Persons with disabilities often face significant challenges in the workplace due to environments that are not adapted to their needs. Reasonable accommodation involves modifications or adjustments made by an employer to remove workplace barriers for employees or applicants with disabilities. UNICEF prioritizes the inclusion of persons with disabilities, both in its programmatic work and within the organization. Central to this effort is UNICEF’s reasonable accommodation fund, which plays a key role in ensuring an inclusive and supportive work environment.

The Fund is administered through UNICEF’s Division of Human Resources and its request and decision-making process is managed by the organization’s Culture and Diversity team in the Office of the Executive Director. To inform its future design and approach, UNICEF’s Culture and Diversity team requested an evaluation of the Fund, which was carried out by UNICEF’s Evaluation Office.
