Cairo, Egypt - 2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC @ 30). During the past 30 years, the convention became the most widely-ratified human rights treaty in history and helped transform children’s lives around the world by advocating for their rights and the changes needed to fulfill and protect them.

On this occasion, UNICEF Egypt in collaboration with Al Ahly Sporting Club seized the moment to advocate for Children’s rights through a joint event engaging players, board members, fans and children. Aliou Dieng and Ayman Ashraf, Al Ahly first team football players, participated in the event by playing a match with the children.

UNICEF/Egypt 2019/Haleem Elshaarani A girl enjoying bungee jumping safely thanks to the safety precautions UNICEF took to guarantee the safety of all games during the event. The day was organized at Al Ahly club in Sheikh Zayed as part of the four-year agreement between UNICEF and one of the region’s and Africa’s most popular football clubs to advocate for the rights of disadvantaged children across Egypt.

Some of them were beneficiaries of Meshwary, family centers and other UNICEF-supported interventions.
