Highlights

Technovation – Community Solutions for Girls

Problem:
In Cameroon, over 6 million adolescent girls face systemic barriers—gender discrimination, limited access to education, and a widening digital divide—especially in rural and crisis-affected areas.

Opportunity:
Empowering girls with digital and entrepreneurial skills can unlock economic growth, reduce poverty, and foster innovation. Each additional year of schooling can boost a girl's future income by 10–20%.

Solution:
UNICEF Cameroon, in partnership with Technovation Girls, proposes a community-driven tech education program that:

  • Equips girls with real-world digital skills
  • Connects them with mentors and role models
  • Encourages entrepreneurship and innovation
  • Uses scalable, cost-effective, and localized learning models

Impact Goals:

  • Bridge the gender digital divide
  • Enable girls to co-create tech solutions for their communities
  • Foster a generation of female tech leaders and entrepreneurs

Why Now?
Investing in girls’ tech skills today means building a more inclusive, resilient, and innovative Cameroon tomorrow.
