What is internet of good things

  • Currently, it’s typically used as a data-light website, optimized to also support low-end mobile devices and designed with low-literacy, first-time internet users in mind

  • While feature phones don’t come with access to an application store, they are most often equipped with a web browser capable of displaying basic HTML content.

  • Used to deliver evidence-based programs and other content, surveys, quizzes, polls, and comments, free of data charges, to the last digital mile

  • IoGT V2.0 has evolved IoGT so it can offer offline content access for smart device users and many new features to enhance engagement

  • The platform was originally developed by UNICEF’s Office of Innovation and transitioned to the Communication for Development (C4D) office in 2019.

IoGT supports UNICEF’s programmes in

  • Engaging Communities
  • Building Capacity at the Front Line
  • Reaching Underserved Populations
  • Designing Data-Driven Interventions

IoGT, how does it work?

  • Each Internet of Good Things site is independently managed by their UNICEF country office.

  • This means that, in our case, IoGT Cameroon will be managed by the UNICEF Cameroon country office.

  • IoGT helps fight misinformation by providing an accessible information portal.

  • Feedback and data are collected through quizzes, dialogue boxes and comments.
