FANTASTICO and UNICEF partner to support children with disabilities, their parents and teachers
The campaign "Education for every child" starts on September 10, and the customers of the supermarket chain will have the opportunity to donate 1 BGN
September 09, 2020, Sofia - FANTASTICO supermarket chain joins the family of corporate partners of UNICEF in Bulgaria. The two organizations are combining efforts in a campaign for more accessible and comprehensive education for children with special needs.
The "Education for every child" campaign will start on September 10, 2020 and will last until October 14, 2020, covering all 43 FANTASTICO supermarkets. During the campaign, FANTASTICO customers will have the opportunity to donate 1 BGN. The amount can be donated to the cash registers in the chain upon payment of the purchased goods. The donation will be reflected with a separate item in the receipt. If a visitor only wants to donate an amount for the cause s/he can also do so at the checkout without shopping in the store, and for the donated amount s/he will receive a receipt.
With the funds raised, UNICEF, together with its partners, will develop the country's first inclusive digital education platform. It will provide adapted educational resources for the specific needs of every child and will facilitate the interaction between specialists (resource teachers, psychologists, speech therapists), teachers, parents and children, especially for those living in remote areas, far from the district city, where there is no regular contact. The platform is expected to be operational by the end of 2020 and for the first 30 months it will support 3,300 children with disabilities, 500 professionals and a minimum of 200 parents. The aim of the platform is to provide long-term and sustainable support that will eventually cover most children with disabilities in the country.
"Our partnership with UNICEF and the support for the campaign “Education for Every Child” is a natural continuation of FANTASTICO's long-standing policy of supporting children and families at risk. We believe that the creation of the first inclusive digital educational platform will nurture the potential of the children with special needs, will further motivate their teachers and will make the parents more confident in caring for their children. We are sure of the success of this cause and we thank UNICEF for the unceasing enthusiasm and efforts so that every child can learn and develop."
said Svetoslav Gavrilov Executive Director of FANTASTICO.
"We welcome Fantastico for its courage and stance to support us in the current challenging global situation. UNICEF believes that every child has the right to accessible and quality education that fulfil their potential. We must make sure there are no exceptions and no child is left behind.”
said Dr. Jane Muita, UNICEF Representative in Bulgaria.
