Status of Newborn Survival in Zimbabwe
Highlights
This paper seeks to examine in-depth the possible reasons behind the high and increasing neonatal mortality in Zimbabwe, and to identify short; mid- and long-term cost-effective priority strategies in addressing stillbirths and neonatal mortality in Zimbabwe. This paper builds from the UNICEF webinar held on 3 May 2023 titled ’How can technological innovations contribute to addressing the high newborn mortality in Zimbabwe? (link to the webinar recordings) The webinar discussions, aligned with the Zimbabwe Newborn Action Plan on the need for a life cycle approach, with interventions across the continuum of care (preconception, antenatal, intrapartum, immediate postnatal period, and after).
