So that children and adults could learn about children's rights, UNICEF Venezuela invited to the second edition of the Children's Rights Fair, which took place on the weekend of July 22 and 23 at the Simón Bolívar Park in La Carlota, annexed to the Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda Park (former Parque del Este), in Caracas.
Within the framework of Children's Day in Venezuela, UNICEF and a group of government institutions, UN agencies, civil society, and private companies came together to celebrate boys, girls, adolescents, and their families with group dynamics, workshops, games, musical activities, crafts, storytelling and - above all - information that allows them to know and exercise their rights.
The opening ceremony took place on the first day of the fair, with a concert offered by the Caracas Big Band Orchestra, a group belonging to the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela, National Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF.
At the Rights Fair, the importance of guaranteeing children rights such as education, recreation, and access to information, based on the age of each boy or girl, was explained to the attending public; as well as the need to ensure their right to protection against all types of violence and situations that affect their integrity and development, such as abandonment, child labor and sexual exploitation, among others.
This year, the initiative had the participation of organizations such as UNFPA, FAO, WFP, Movistar, the Venezuelan Football Federation, El Sistema, Caracas Comic Con, Banco del Libro, Radio Fe y Alegría, Provita, El Pitazo, Fundainil, Alinca, Tinta Violeta, Funvape, Luz y Vida, the Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents of the Sucre municipality, Civil Protection and Disaster Administration of Miranda, Zona Escolar, Provita, among others.
