TASHKENT, 20 November 2025 — As Uzbekistan, along with all countries at the global level, celebrates World Children’s Day, UNICEF mobilizes government agencies, civil society, media, and young changemakers to create a high-visibility moment dedicated to advancing children’s rights. Joint efforts are concentrated on amplifying voices, celebrating achievements, and charting a course toward real progress, with a renewed focus on innovative, inclusive, and participatory actions.

The celebration of WCD started earlier with the nationwide campaign – a national competition running for a month, “My Day. My Rights.”, where children from all regions of Uzbekistan submitted more than 100 beautiful video entries. Telling their own stories, children shared their thoughts on fulfilling children’s rights. UNICEF awarded the authors of the best three videos.

The Ministry of Preschool and School Education, "Zamin" International Public Foundation and UNICEF jointly organized the Open Lesson about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. 9 million children and young people across the country participated in this initiative. This lesson was created to add depth and learning for students, introducing the Convention and connecting it to students’ own lives.

120 children from all regions of Uzbekistan visited the Senate of Oliy Majlis to engage with decision-makers, raising their voices and advocating for children’s rights. They focused on the child's right to a healthy environment and suggested ways to improve efforts on climate change. Another 60 children from the regions participated in these dialogues online, so this kind of dialogue will be organized with local authorities as well.

High-Level Event to commemorate the 36th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and World Children’s Day was held. The celebration brought together more than 100 high-level long-standing partners working on child rights – government counterparts, development partners, private sector partners, young people and children for dialogue on child rights. The event provided partners with an opportunity to dialogue on key achievements and on how partners can reimagine children’s and young people’s programming in an evolving world.

Uzbekistan joined the global movement by illuminating iconic landmarks and public spaces in blue — the color symbolizing children’s rights.
