Combat stunting in Timor-Leste
Highlights
On March 13, 2025, Timor-Leste launched its National Action Plan to Combat Stunting (2024-2030), a comprehensive strategy aiming to reduce the country's stunting rate from 47% to less than 25% by 2030. This plan outlines multisectoral interventions to improve nutrition, enhance dietary diversity, and strengthen climate resilience and social protection measures. The plan was signed by multiple ministers, reflecting a strong governmental commitment to addressing child malnutrition. The primary function of this plan is to provide a coordinated framework for implementing nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive programs, thereby improving the health and well-being of the Timorese population.
