Highlights
- The number of internally displaced persons rose 27 per cent in 2024, from 9 million to 11.5 million. Children made up over 53 per cent of the displaced.
- In 2024, admissions for severe acute malnutrition (SAM) rose by 43.8 per cent compared to 2023, with 431,015 children treated—the highest annual total since the programme's inception UNICEF.
- Through UNICEF's support, improved water, sanitation, and hygiene services reached 9.8 million people.
- Critical protection services benefited 2.8 million people, including 2.7 million children and 168,792 caregivers.
- UNICEF’s 2024 Sudan response remained only 58 per cent funded, underscoring the urgent need for continued resource mobilisation to save lives and secure the future of vulnerable children.
