Muscat, 11 December 2025 – Media professionals in Oman strengthened their capacity to report on children’s issues through a four-day training programme on child rights, held from 8-11 December 2025 under the theme “Child-Friendly Media.” The programme was organised by the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) in cooperation with the Ministry of Information (MoI) and UNICEF, reflecting a shared commitment to promoting ethical, safe and rights-based media practices related to children.
The programme aims to strengthen the capacity of media professionals to address child-related issues through responsible, ethical, and rights-based reporting that aligns with contemporary media practices.
The organisers explained that the programme provides a structured professional framework to enhance how issues related to children in Oman are presented and addressed across media platforms. They noted that it also supports the production of safe, child-appropriate media content that keeps pace with modern technologies and responds to the needs of children and adolescents.
The organisers further clarified that the programme forms part of broader national efforts to strengthen child protection and empowerment by building media capacities based on a child rights-based approach and establishing clear methodologies for tailoring media messages according to different target audiences.
The programme includes five core sessions covering a range of topics, including childhood media and child rights in the era of digital transformation. It also features a visual presentation on child rights delivered by the Arab Council for Childhood and Development.
The training is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Information, Sultan Qaboos University, the Arab Council for Childhood and Development, the League of Arab States, the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND), and UNICEF.
