Our Representative

Since 2022, Ms. Sumaira Chowdhury has held the position of UNICEF Representative to the Sultanate of Oman, where she is responsible for the overall leadership and strategic direction of the country programme. She started her career with UNICEF as a Young Professional, and over the course of the last 20 years, has worked in Kenya, India, Mozambique and UNICEF Headquarters in Switzerland and New York.  Previously, she worked as a management consultant with A.T. Kearney in New York. She holds a BA from Wellesley College and a Masters in Public Administration in International Development from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. Ms. Chowdhury is from Bangladesh and is married with a teenage son.
