Highlights

The School Barometer is a national tool that assesses the quality of education, the school climate, respect for children’s rights, and the level of integrity in general education institutions.

Initiated by the Ministry of Education and Research, the survey was conducted with the support of UNICEF, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, UNFPA, UN Women and UNDP, with financial support from the European Union, Norway and the United Kingdom. It provides an overview of the education system from the perspectives of students, parents, teachers and school managers.

The research examined key aspects of the education environment, including:

  • the quality of the teaching and learning process;
  • awareness of human rights and children’s rights;
  • gender equality;
  • student participation in school decision-making;
  • student well-being;
  • the existence of informal payments.

The data collected will help inform public policies and accelerate reforms aimed at building a modern, inclusive education system centred on the needs of every child.
