Overcoming barriers and boosting vaccine uptake based on evidence

This case study presents UNICEF Moldova’s work with national partners to strengthen immunization promotion and address declining vaccination coverage through evidence-based, behavioural science-informed approaches. It highlights how behavioural insights research, social and behaviour change capacity building, interpersonal communication training, community education, and social listening were used to better understand vaccine hesitancy, counter misinformation, and build public trust. The document shares key results and lessons from Moldova’s experience, offering practical insights for strengthening immunization systems and supporting families to make informed vaccination decisions.
