Feasibility study for establishing the first Human Milk Bank in Moldova

This report presents the findings of the feasibility study for establishing the first human milk bank in Moldova, conducted with the support of UNICEF, the Ministry of Health, and the Mother and Child Institute.

The data show that approximately 1,800 premature babies are born in Moldova every year, and donated breast milk can reduce the risks of infections and complications and improve the development of premature infants.

The report highlights the need for a national center, a multidisciplinary team, protocols for handling human milk, specialized equipment, and a national referral and supply network.
