As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Lao Youth Media, young advocates gathered to highlight their contributions to promoting child rights, with a particular focus on education. This event, supported by the European Union in Laos and led by the National Radio under the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, showcased the significant impact of their work.

For two decades, UNICEF has supported Lao Youth Media, an initiative which fosters dialogue, exchanges diverse perspectives, promotes mutual understanding, encourages collaboration, and formulates comprehensive strategies to address the diverse needs and challenges faced by youth across the nation.

The European Union's unwavering support for education in Laos in recent years has been instrumental in these achievements. From May to July, youth across the country have been trained to promote education, combat school dropout rates, and advocate for the Khang Panya Lao platform. This initiative is a beacon of hope and progress, showcasing the transformative power of education and digital innovation.

These young advocates have been equipped with the skills needed to engage effectively with their peers and communities. They have undertaken the mission of visiting schools, interviewing children, and capturing their stories and experiences. This effort not only amplifies the voices of the youth but also highlights the critical role that education plays in their lives.

One of the key initiatives that the youth media have been promoting is the Khang Panya Lao platform, a digital tool designed to facilitate continuous learning and enhance digital skills. Through their interviews and reports, these young journalists are shining a light on the everyday heroes in their schools and communities.

By involving youth in media and training them to become advocates for education, the program is creating a ripple effect that extends beyond the classrooms. These young reporters are not only raising awareness about educational issues but are also inspiring their peers to stay in school and value their education.

The collective efforts of these young individuals are a testament to the power of youth engagement in shaping the future of education. As they continue to share their stories and advocate for their peers, the impact of their work will undoubtedly resonate throughout Laos and beyond.
