Highlights

Empowerment, or the process of strengthening knowledge and capacities to exercise power and have the freedom, information and support to make decisions and act to make them come true, is a key strategy to overcome gender inequalities that affect millions of girls and adolescents in the Latin America and the Caribbean region. UNICEF promotes the empowerment of girls and adolescents so that their dreams come true and enjoy comprehensive development.

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the UNICEF Gender Action Plan, 5 rights have been prioritized to enlight the path towards the empowerment of girls and adolescents.
