Highlights
This publication was developed by UNICEF for Latin America and the Caribbean with the purpose of supporting the accelerated digital transformation of education systems across the region, in line with the UNICEF Digital Education Global Strategy 2025–2030.
The implementation plan Accelerating educational outcomes through Digital Transformation in Latin America and the Caribbean is designed as a practical tool for UNICEF Country Offices, governments, and partners to translate global digital education commitments into concrete, measurable actions. It responds to persistent challenges of education denied and education disrupted, driven by social and geographical barriers, climate shocks, migration, and emergencies, while addressing the urgent need to improve quality education outcomes. The guide places a strong emphasis on ensuring that children and adolescents (particularly the most vulnerable) can access and benefit from high-quality, inclusive, and resilient digital education, regardless of their circumstances.
The implementation plan is organized around three sections aligned with the UNICEF Latin America and the Caribbean regional education strategy: early childhood education, foundational learning, and secondary education and the transition from school to work. These areas are framed within a life-cycle approach that reflects the evolving learning needs of children and adolescents.
Across all sections, the guide is structured around the five focus areas of the Digital Education Strategy 2025–2030: teacher empowerment, foundational learning, skills and competencies, systems strengthening, and thought leadership. It also includes concrete examples from UNICEF Country Offices that are already advancing digital transformation initiatives, showcasing local innovation, adaptability, and impact across the region.
