Partnership between UNICEF and Comodita Home helps establish a community-based early childhood education center in Mirosale- Ferizaj
Prishtina, Kosovo – 19th of March 2026 The opening of the community-based early childhood education center supported through the partnership between UNICEF and Comodita Home was inaugurated in Mirosale, Ferizaj, implemented by the Center for Human Services and Development. This marks an important step toward expanding equitable access to quality early learning opportunities for young children in Kosovo.
Supported by the UNICEF and Comodita Home in cooperation with the Municipality of Ferizaj, the center will provide early learning and development services for 40 children, offering a safe and stimulating environment where they can learn, play and develop essential cognitive, social and emotional skills.
The center is the result of the partnership signed between UNICEF and Comodita Home to promote early childhood development in Kosovo. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that children, particularly those from underserved communities have access to quality early learning opportunities during the most critical years of development.
This marks the second time Comodita Home has partnered with UNICEF to support early childhood development programmes. Through the latest agreement, the company has expanded its support not only in Kosovo but also in Albania, reinforcing its regional commitment to investing in children’s futures.
From January to December 2026, UNICEF plans to support the establishment and operation of three community-based ECE centers for children age 3 and 4, in partnership with municipalities in Ferizaj, Peja, and Mitrovica. These centers are designed to bring early learning services closer to families, particularly in communities where access to early education remains limited.
The strong interest in the center in Mirosale, Ferizaj highlights the growing demand for accessible and affordable early childhood education services. Community-based ECE centers have demonstrated to be an alternative and cost – effective model of ECE services that is sustainably integrated in municipal budget following initial support from partners.
“Early childhood education is critical to enable children’s social and emotional development, as well as play-based learning for lifelong resilience and success in education,” said Veronika Vashchenko, Head of UNICFE Kosovo. “Partnerships with companies like Comodita Home enable us to expand opportunities not only for children to learn and develop but also to support mothers on job seeking and employment.
Shkelqim Devolli from Comodita Home emphasized the company’s commitment to contributing to community development. “At Comodita Home, we believe that investing in children means investing in the future. We are proud to partner with UNICEF to support initiatives that help young children grow, learn and reach their full potential.”
Through partnerships with the private sector and local institutions, UNICEF continues to work toward expanding equitable access to early childhood education and development services and ensuring that every child in Kosovo has the best possible start in life.
