About us
UNICEF is the global leader promoting and protecting children’s rights in 190 countries, including Kosovo

All children and young people, regardless of their income, ethnicity, or geography have the right to survive, thrive, be protected and be given the opportunity to reach their full potential.
UNICEF works to realize the rights of all children and young people. We support them to build a strong foundation and have the best chance of fulfilling their potential and develop their skills.
UNICEF’s mission
Created in 1946, UNICEF is helping to build a world where children’s rights are fully realized. We are working with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease, and discrimination place in a child’s path. It is our conviction that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress.
UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments. UNICEF is guided by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which has been signed and ratified by almost all United Nations member states to establish child rights as permanent ethical principles and international standards. We cooperate with all countries and governments; build strategic partnerships with the corporate sector and the media; and cooperate with local communities, civil society organisations, and independent institutions to provide systematic support to children.
