UNHCR and UNICEF Statement on deaths of four refugees in Za’atari Refugee Camp

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and UNICEF are deeply saddened by the tragic deaths of four Syrian refugees at the wastewater pumping station in Za’atari refugee camp today, Wednesday 23 August 2023.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident. Both agencies will ensure that the necessary assistance, including psycho-social support, is provided to the families of the deceased and that the provision of critical services on site continues uninterrupted.
