UNICEF India joins the nation in celebrating Nutrition Month, spotlighting POSHAN Abhiyaan and the power of good nutrition to help children grow, learn, and thrive
Every September, India unites to put nutrition at the forefront of national conversations. In 2025, Nutrition Month will be observed from September 17 to October 16 under the Government of India’s flagship POSHAN Abhiyan.
UNICEF India is celebrating the month across its digital platforms, amplifying national efforts to ensure that every child has the right start in life.
Why Nutrition Month Matters
Good nutrition is more than just food on a plate. It lays the foundation for healthy growth, learning, and future opportunities. Yet, millions of children in India continue to face challenges like stunting, wasting, and micronutrient deficiencies. Nutrition Month is a time to raise awareness, share solutions, and inspire communities to act.
“A well-nourished child is not only healthier but also more likely to reach her full potential in school and life.” UNICEF India.
POSHAN Abhiyaan: A National Movement
Launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, POSHAN Abhiyaan is India’s flagship program to improve nutritional outcomes for children, adolescents, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. From promoting healthy diets to strengthening frontline workers and community engagement, the program takes a life-cycle approach to nutrition.
During Nutrition Month 2025, UNICEF will spotlight stories of change, share evidence-based practices, and amplify voices from the ground.
UNICEF India remains committed to supporting the government and communities in creating a nutrition-secure future for every child. This September to October, the call is clear: nourish children today to empower tomorrow.
