Highlights
In 2024, Haiti faced significant challenges due to armed violence, displacement, and a fragile healthcare system. Despite these, UNICEF continued to prioritize the wellbeing and rights of children and vulnerable communities across the country. Key achievements included increasing access to education, water, sanitation, healthcare, and nutrition, as well as providing critical protection and support services.
Notably, over 121,000 children benefited from formal and non-formal education opportunities, including those in internally displaced persons (IDP) sites. More than 57,000 people gained access to clean drinking water, and 95,000 individuals received improved sanitation, including inclusive facilities for those with disabilities. UNICEF also provided cash assistance to nearly 30,000 families to support their children’s education and well-being.
In addition, significant efforts were made to support children affected by violence and displacement, including mental health services for 85,000 children and the reintegration of children associated with armed groups. UNICEF reached millions of people with vital information on health, vaccination, and nutrition, contributing to the protection and development of children and families in Haiti.
