Geeta Narayan, UNICEF Representative in Haiti

Geeta Narayan took up her position as the UNICEF Representative in Haiti on September 29, 2024, upon her arrival in Port-au-Prince.

Prior to this role, Geeta served as Senior Advisor on Organizational Culture for UNICEF in New York from June 2019. In this capacity, she led efforts to strengthen the organization’s workplace culture, focusing on building a more diverse and inclusive environment.

Geeta began her career as a Junior Professional Officer (JPO) funded by Canada in Bamako, Mali, in 1996. She has held numerous roles within UNICEF, including positions in strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, social policy, humanitarian policy and advocacy, and program management. Her assignments took her to New York (2001-2004), Vietnam (2007-2010), South Africa (2010-2012), and Jordan (2012-2016). Her last country leadership position was as UNICEF Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she served from November 2016 to June 2019.

Geeta has also worked as a Child Rights Policy Analyst at the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and with the NGO sector in Canada.

A Canadian national, born in Fiji, Geeta holds a Master's degree in International Affairs from Carleton University in Ottawa and an Honours Bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
