UNEG EPE: Evaluating Humanitarian Development Peace Nexus - Panel Discussion
The nexus approach in its various forms has a long history of 30 years but received renewed thrust with the adoption of the SDGs and other intergovernmental agreements. As over sixty per cent of conflict related crises are protracted in nature there is a need for humanitarian development and peace initiatives to be carried out simultaneously and in a coordinated and complementary manner. As a programming approach, the humanitarian-development -peace nexus (HDPN) or triple nexus responds to this programming reality. HDPN approach envisages a stronger collaboration and
coordination among development cooperation, humanitarian action and peacebuilding.
This Evaluation Practice Exchange (EPE) will bring together UN humanitarian, development, and peace agencies to share their experiences in conducting Nexus evaluations. The objective of the session is to share experiences, approaches, and challenges in evaluating the HDPN. This session will lay the foundation for further work on this topic by the UNEG, specifically, peacebuilding, humanitarian, and methodology working groups.
