CAIRO, June 10 2026 – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Egypt today announced the renewal of Actress and Singer Donia Samir Ghanem’s appointment as UNICEF Egypt Ambassador, marking ten years of partnership in advancing the rights and well-being of children in Egypt and across the region.
Since her engagement with UNICEF in Egypt in 2015, Donia Samir Ghanem has used her voice and platform to champion children’s rights, raise awareness on issues affecting children and young people, and mobilize support for children and families in vulnerable situations.
Over the past decade, she has championed child protection, child nutrition, girls’ empowerment, and children’s participation, while supporting fundraising efforts for children affected by crises across the region.
The renewed partnership will focus on two key priorities: improving child nutrition and empowering girls to learn, participate, and reach their full potential. Through her voice and influence, Donia will continue to help raise awareness and inspire action for children.
The announcement was made during a high-level event attended by government representatives, heads of national councils, members of the diplomatic community, development partners, media, and children.
Children were at the heart of the event, sharing the rights and issues that matter most to them and engaging directly with Donia, underscoring the importance of listening to and amplifying children’s voices.
"Children's futures are shaped not only by policies and programmes, but also by the voices that inspire people to care and act," said Natalia Winder Rossi, UNICEF Representative in Egypt. "Over the past decade, Donia Samir Ghanem has been one of those voices, and we are proud to continue this partnership on behalf of children."
Expressing her commitment to children, UNICEF Egypt Ambassador Donia Samir Ghanem said: “To every child in Egypt, across our Arab region, and beyond: I am with you, and my voice will always be an echo of your voices, your dreams, and your ambitions."
The event concluded with the official signing of the renewed Egypt Ambassador agreement, reaffirming a shared commitment to advancing children’s rights in Egypt and beyond.
