Strengthening the response to violence against children

Highlights

The multi-country project with Poland and Romania aims to strengthen the response to the phenomenon of violence against children through better informed policies and an improved capacity of the authorities, gained through in-depth analysis and tailored training. The collected evidence and the related analysis will be used to underpin recommendations and roadmaps to enhance the response to violence against children in both Poland and Romania, and to develop capacity of the professionals to prevent, identify and respond to violence against children. 

In Romania, the project is led by the National Authority for the Protection of Children Rights and Adoption (NAPCRA), under the Ministry of Family, Youth and Equal Opportunities, and will focus on evidence generation on the prevalence of violence against children and on strengthening the capacity of authorities and professionals to prevent, identify and address it. The activities will result in a mapping of services at national and local level, a set of recommendations to strengthen the response to violence against children, a roadmap to implement the recommendations and capacity building tools and actions for professionals on violence against children. They will also include a digital campaign package on safe use of the internet and prevention of online violence and communication outputs. 

In Poland, the project is led by the Ministry of Justice and will focus on developing child-friendly multidisciplinary support services to children-victims of violence, living in all regions. Project activities will result in a mapping of services at national and decentralized level, a set recommendations to strengthen the response to violence against children, a roadmap to implement the recommendations and capacity building tools and actions for practitioners on violence against children. They will also include communication outputs.
