Development of a new comprehensive law on child protection and family support
Unifying and strengthening the child protection system in the Czech Republic
Highlights
The Czech Republic’s child protection system is fragmented across multiple ministries, limiting effective support for vulnerable children and families. To unify and modernize the system, the government is developing a comprehensive law under the National Strategy for the Protection of Children’s Rights (2021–2029).
Supported by the EU’s Technical Support Instrument , the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, with UNICEF and the European Commission, is drafting new legislation, conducting a regulatory impact and fiscal analysis, and preparing a communication plan to ensure successful implementation. This initiative aims to create a sustainable, unified framework for child protection and family support.
