As part of the emergency response to COVID-19, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Cuba has acquired an oxygen generation plan for medical use.

The plant, with a capacity of 50 m3/h, arrived in the country this morning.

The contribution was channeled through the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Civil Defense of Cuba, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment (MINCEX), the Integral Automation Company (CEDAI) –part of the Ministry of Industry–, and Cubaelectrónica.

This action will mean a positive contribution for the medical attention of patients affected by COVID-19 in the island, and it’s part of the support to Cuba’s efforts in facing the multiple challenges posed by the pandemic.

Regarding this important donation, UNICEF Cuba’s Representative, Mr. Brandão Có remarked: “UNICEF will continue to redouble its actions in order to assist and reinforce the efforts made by the Government of Cuba in fighting COVID-19, as well as to contribute to the medical attention of affected people, and of the most vulnerable of them in particular.”
