Help children affected by earthquakes!

UNICEF launched an appeal for the most vulnerable

30 December 2020

Zagreb, 30.12.2020  Due to the devastating earthquakes that hit the Sisak-Moslavina County, especially the area of Petrinja, Sisak and Glina, central Croatia is facing the biggest humanitarian crisis at the moment, with needs and challenges constantly growing.

To respond to the crisis, UNICEF is preparing the delivery of key supplies and protective equipment to the affected areas and providing psychosocial assistance for children and parents, support to kindergartens, schools and health institutions and institutions from the social welfare system. This crisis has a devastating long-term effect on the lives of children who are particularly vulnerable. It is important to protect them, as long after the earthquake they will need special care.

UNICEF has launched a campaign “Help children affected by earthquakes” and is inviting all citizens, companies and media to get involved and help children and families in quake-devastated areas with their donations. Everyone's support and assistance are needed to overcome these difficult challenges together and provide support and security to the most vulnerable children and families in the coming period.

UNICEF has already launched the procurement of emergency supplies and equipment and, in cooperation with institutions, assesses long-term needs, and in view of the growing challenges, calls on citizens and businesses to help children and families in the area of Petrinja, Sisak, Glina and other places affected by earthquakes through donations.

Donations will help secure for children and families most affected by the earthquakes:

  • hygiene supplies and protective equipment
  • psychosocial support for children and parents
  • support to kindergartens and schools
  • support to health institutions and social service providers

Donations can be made at or directly to UNICEF’s bank account:
