The Centre for Community Services Zagreb-Dugave and the Croatian Institute for Social Work, in cooperation with UNICEF, invites all interested people to the workshop “Foster Care for Unaccompanied Children,” which will be held on Saturday, 24 May 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Centre for Community Services Zagreb-Dugave, Ulica sv. Mateja 70a, Zagreb.
At the workshop, you will learn everything about how to become a foster parent for an unaccompanied child who, due to war, violence, or poverty, has been left without parental care and a safe home. The workshop will present opportunities for both long-term and weekend foster care. Through the experiences of foster parents and professional support, you will receive answers to all your questions and concerns. All participants will have the opportunity to learn about the application process, rights, and support available to them, as well as concrete ways they can help unaccompanied children.
Why attend?
Unaccompanied children are the most vulnerable group among children. Behind them are difficult experiences, and ahead of them uncertainty. You can be the person who provides them with safety, warmth, and a sense of belonging that every child deserves. Foster care is not just about providing a roof over someone’s head-it is an opportunity to return a smile, hope, and trust in people to a child. As an inspiring message from the foster parents’ community says:
“Every child to whom you give a home will carry in their heart gratitude for the safety, love, and support you have given them. Anyone can provide a roof over someone’s head, but only a few can stop the feeling of loneliness and isolation.”
Your support to an unaccompanied child can be the difference between a childhood filled with uncertainty and one filled with safety, smiles, and hope.
How to apply?
Register via email: [email protected] or by phone at 098 9382-760 and 098 1787 506. More information is available in the leaflet and brochure.
Join the workshop and find out how you can stop the feeling of loneliness and isolation in the life of a child who needs it most. Your support can give them a new beginning and a secure future.
