Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković meets with UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell

New York, 25 September 2026 – On the margins of the United Nations General Assembly, Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković met today with UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell to discuss strengthening UNICEF's partnership with Croatia for children.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the strong and longstanding cooperation between the Republic of Croatia and UNICEF in promoting and protecting children’s rights, both in Croatia and through joint international development and humanitarian initiatives.
The two sides welcomed the newly signed multi-year Official Development Assistance (ODA) agreement for the period 2026–2028, which reaffirms Croatia’s long-term commitment to investing in children and sustainable development solutions, while further strengthening the strategic partnership between Croatia and UNICEF. Cooperation through ODA programmes has supported the implementation of numerous development and humanitarian projects for children, while the new agreement will provide more predictability and enable longer-term impact for the most vulnerable children and families affected by conflict, displacement and humanitarian crises.
Croatian Government and UNICEF look forward to deepening collaboration as Croatia will participate in the new UNICEF multi-country office covering Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece and Romania, and Croatia will host the Representative of UNICEFs multi-country office, from 2028.
