Highlights

Road traffic injuries are a leading cause of death and disability among children and adolescents in Cambodia, that account for 20 per cent of road crash fatalities. With nearly 300 young lives lost annually and thousands injured, Cambodia faces substantial public health and economic burdens, costing approximately US$466.8 million annually (1.7 per cent of GDP).

Key challenges include insufficient enforcement of child-specific road safety laws, unsafe road infrastructure and limited post-crash care, with only 11 per cent of injured children reaching hospitals within 30 minutes.Protecting young lives, creating healthy, safe and sustainable mobility and ensuring optimal care for injured children and adolescents are critical in Cambodia.
