Mass vaccination against COVID-19 is actively underway in Belarus: everyone can get vaccinated against the virus for free today. In this regard, Viber and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Belarus have conducted a survey among Viber users to find out about their attitudes towards vaccination.

Covid-optimism

The pandemic has had a significant impact on the lives of people around the world. Nevertheless, a significant part (42%) of the surveyed Viber users from Belarus are confident that thanks to vaccines and the observance of preventive measures, the virus will be defeated, and it will be possible to get back to normal life. This opinion is shared by 48% of respondents from the CIS countries. 35% of Belarusians and 30% of the CIS residents are pessimistic, while 23% and 21%, respectively, could not choose an answer.

News from social media

There are many sources of information on the pandemic, including the messenger: Viber has launched the official chat bot of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 23 languages and official communities dedicated to fighting against COVID-19.

At the same time, according to the survey of the Belarusian respondents, their main channels for obtaining information about vaccination are social media (38%) and television (17%).

In the CIS, the situation is similar: 30% of respondents prefer to get news from social media, and 26% to get news from TV. Ministries of Health are considered to be Top 3 sources of the vaccination information both in Belarus and in the neighboring countries: 14% of Belarusian respondents and 15% of the CIS respondents find the ministries the main sources.

Get vaccinated for yourself and your loved ones

Vaccination is an effective way to protect your health and the health of those around you, doctors emphasize around the world. This is also the opinion of the majority of the Viber users who have taken part in the survey. The priority of 29% of respondents from Belarus and 30% of respondents from the neighboring countries is to protect the health of loved ones. An important reason to get vaccinated is a following vacation: this is called the main reason for getting vaccinated by 18% of Belarusian respondents and by 17% of the CIS respondents.

In general, more than a third of respondents from Belarus (37%) and 43% of respondents from the CIS plan to get vaccinated. 43% of respondents from Belarus and 37% of respondents from the CIS do not intend to do this. The “I don't know” answer was chosen by about one in five respondents from Belarus (20%) and from the CIS (19%).
