Young People of Gyumri Speak UPSHIFT

On September 11, UNICEF and the Youth Initiative Center in Gyumri launched UPSHIFT final closing exhibition at the Gyumri Technology Center.
“It’s a big day- 1st phase of the UPSHIFT Armenia project is over. It was a very interesting journey and we want to say to all adolescents in Armenia and in the world that if you have ideas, if you think differently, if you have the will, then you can bring changes to your community and make it a better place to live in.”
“The excitement among UPSHIFT-ers was thrilling. This is the first major wave to bring about changes in the community and hence in the country. We are happy that UPSHIFT started its journey from Gyumri. We now proudly pass on the torch to other communities to thrive.”

“We collected 6-7 trucks load of garbage from the Gyumri river. Don’t throw your garbage into the river! Be eco-friendly and have eco-consciousness!.”
“We became best friends, we learned how to design a project and budget for it, how to estimate the risks and, most importantly, how to motivate our friends and people around us to become activists and do good.”
“After a one-month struggle we finally managed to design our project. In addition to other important skills, I want to emphasize that the main skill that I armed myself with is teamwork.”
