Youth Recommendations on Air Quality and Climate Action in Albania

30 young people from across Albania have developed a set of recommendations addressed to the Government of Albania, focusing on air quality, climate commitments, and the meaningful participation of youth in environmental decision-making.

Two documents were produced in the framework of the project:Youth4CleanAir & Child-Friendly NDCs, implemented by EDEN Center in partnership with UNICEF Albania, with financial support from the Government of Sweden.

As part of the initiative, 508 young people participated in capacity-building activities, strengthening their knowledge and engagement on climate action. Building on this process, 30 young representatives from 9 municipalities worked collaboratively to develop the recommendations during the National Youth Workshop “A Joint Effort for Climate and Clean Air towards COP30”, held in Tirana on 15–16 November 2025.

In the two documents, young people prioritize their needs and call for:

  • Increased use of renewable energy
  • Expansion of urban green spaces
  • Stronger climate and environmental education
  • Recognition of youth as equal partners in environmental governance and climate policy

These recommendations reflect the perspectives and priorities of young people and aim to contribute to stronger dialogue and collaboration between youth and public institutions, supporting more inclusive and sustainable environmental policies in Albania and was shared with the Ministry of Environment, Municipalities and other important national and local stakeholders working in air quality, climate change, green skills education etc.
