ON MANAGING CASES OF CHILDREN IN NEED OF PROTECTION DURING THE NATURAL DISASTER PERIOD RESULTING FROM THE COVID-19 CAUSED PANDEMIC
As an immediate result of the advocacy, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection has issued a Ministerial instruction, nr 253 of 10 April 2020, that ensures continuation of protection services for the most at-risk children during COVID-19 emergency. The Ministerial Instruction tasks the local Child Protection structures, the State Agency on Child Rights and Protection, Institute of Public Health and State Social Service to accelerate actions and to coordinate their interventions to ensure that no child at risk is left unprotected during the COVID-19 emergency. The Instruction introduces measures for Child protection system that ensure that Child Protection Workers will continue life-saving interventions to protect children at risk of violence, exploitation, abuse and neglect while ensuring that they are supported with the necessary personal protection equipment and the required logistics to make home visits for high-risk cases. The Instruction provides guidance to Child Protection workers to refer children and families that require psycho-social support during COVID-19 will to UNICEF supported National Child Counseling Line ALO 116 111 at the toll-free number 116 111, as well as to the online counseling platform at www.nukjevetëm.al.
