Highlights

  • In 2025, more than 50 per cent of the population, nearly 23 million people, require humanitarian assistance, including 12 million children.
  • Since the beginning of the year, over 2.3 million Afghans have returned to Afghanistan, from neighbouring Countries, 900,000 of whom are children.
  • From January to July 2025, over 19.3 million people accessed essential health services through UNICEF-supported facilities and mobile teams.
  • In July 2025, 1.3 million children were screened for wasting, of whom 6,467 (54 per cent girls) were admitted at the in-patient facility while 65,392 (54 per cent girls) were admitted for outpatient treatment.
  • In July, UNICEF reached 738,032 people with access to safe drinking water across eight provinces. An additional 389,338 returnees from neighbouring countries were provided with safe drinking water at border points.
