Highlights

A children’s court is the cornerstone of any child-friendly justice system. In 2016, Viet Nam’s first ever Family and Juvenile Court (F&JC)-a specialist court for families and children, was launched in Ho Chi Minh city, marking a significant milestone in the country’s ongoing efforts to strengthen justice for children. To date, F&JCs have been established in two Superior and 38 provincial People’s Courts. This evaluation of the Children’s Court was conducted under the EU Justice and Legal Empowerment Programme in Viet Nam (EU JULE). The evaluation provided a detailed analysis of the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability/scalability of F&JCs and offered practical recommendations for improving their performance and continuing national scale-up efforts, especially to the district level.
