UNICEF delivered 5400 hand sanitizing dispensers to support effective infection control and hygiene practice in Turkmenistan
Ashgabat, 27 October – During the month of October, UNICEF handed over 3400 items of hand sanitizing dispensers to the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and 2000 touchless soap dispensers to the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. The dispensers worth 132000 USD in total are being further distributed to the medical facilities and secondary schools across Turkmenistan.
This activity has been implemented in the frame of UNICEF support to the Government of Turkmenistan for the implementation of the Country Preparedness and Response Plan for Acute Infectious Disease and the Immediate Socio-Economic Response Plan. It has also served as an opportunity to jointly mark the Global Handwashing Day on 15 October.
“Delivery of these hand sanitizing dispensers will ensure that every health facility and every school in Turkmenistan is equipped with high-quality hygiene items for the provision of safe health and education environments for children and their families. It will also support the Ministry of Education in promoting hygiene and healthy lifestyle principles in schools and uninterrupted education for children and youth”. – says Alexandru Nartea, UNICEF Deputy Representative in Turkmenistan.
UNICEF will continue supporting Turkmenistan to strengthen its preparedness and response capacity by delivering essential medical equipment, hygiene supplies and communication of preventive measures.
