The Green School Programme is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and UNICEF, aimed at strengthening the education system’s capacity to address climate change, environmental protection, and disaster risk reduction. Rooted in Turkmenistan’s national climate, education, and development strategies, the Programme promotes sustainable practices in schools through innovative teaching, energy and water conservation, and eco-friendly behaviors that inspire students, teachers, and communities to protect the planet.
By fostering environmental awareness, practical learning, and youth engagement, the Green School Programme supports the creation of safe, inclusive, and environmentally resilient learning environments across Turkmenistan. Schools participating in the Programme serve as centers of knowledge and innovation—where students learn to live sustainably, think creatively, and contribute to a greener, healthier future for all.
