UNU-MERIT was commissioned by UNICEF Serbia to conduct poverty projections accounting for the impacts of COVID-19 and the potential impact of the conflict in Ukraine on the most vulnerable groups in Serbia, with a particular focus on children. To complete this assignment, two distinct analytical strategies were employed: (1) an analysis of the effects of COVID-19 on selected living standard indicators, by comparing the situation in 2019 and 2021; and (2) an estimation of the predicted impact of the crisis in Ukraine on selected living standard indicators in the short term (i.e., 2022) and the medium term (i.e., 2023–2024).
