Christina de Bruin

Ms. Christina de Bruin assumed her duties as UNICEF Representative in Serbia in July 2026. She brings more than 27 years of experience in international development, humanitarian action, child rights and strategic partnerships.

Prior to her appointment in Serbia, Ms. de Bruin served as UNICEF Representative and UN Designated Official in Bulgaria from 2021 to 2026. Previously, she was Deputy Director of the UNICEF Office for Relations with EU Institutions in Brussels, where she led work on innovative partnerships and resource mobilization and represented UNICEF with EU partners at political and policy levels.

During her career with UNICEF, Ms. de Bruin also served as Deputy Representative in Côte d’Ivoire and held positions in Senegal, Sri Lanka and at UNICEF Headquarters in New York. Before joining UNICEF, she worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands as a Policy Advisor on human rights, peacebuilding and humanitarian aid.

Ms. de Bruin holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Public Administration from Leiden University, completed an Executive Education programme on Early Childhood at Harvard Kennedy School, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in European Human Rights Law/Political Science.
