Belgrade, 7 February 2022 - The distribution of protective equipment provided by UNICEF to support the health system in the fight against the COVID-19 virus begins today.
The equipment includes 350,000 surgical masks, 80,000 surgical gloves, 18,000 protective coveralls, 10,000 gowns, 1,330 visors, 890 protective goggles and 510 pairs of boots.
The equipment worth almost US$ 450,000 will be delivered to the Institute for Health Protection of Children and Youth of Vojvodina, KBC Zemun, KBC Dragisa Misovic, the University Clinical Center of Serbia, as well as the COVID Hospital in Batajnica.
“I want to thank UNICEF for this extremely important donation and for the help it has provided since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when we have a large number of infected, when we are again focused as a hospital primarily on COVID patients, including children, the donated protective equipment will be extremely important in preserving the necessary preventive measures and quality care of all infected,” said Dr. Predrag Savic, Assistant Director of KBC Dragisa Misovic, who today received the donation intended for that institution
“At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, UNICEF reacted immediately and supported the health system, as well as families with children, to cope with the consequences of the pandemic. We continue to provide the necessary support to health care institutions, doctors and all other health care professionals and associates, because only together can we successfully overcome the challenges facing the health care system due to the COVID-19 virus,” said Dr. Jelena Zajeganovic-Jakovljevic, Health and Early Childhood Development Specialist, UNICEF Serbia.
