Christina de Bruin is the New UNICEF Representative in Serbia
UNICEF Serbia continues its work for every child under new leadership.

Belgrade, 26 August 2026 – Ms. Christina de Bruin is the newly appointed UNICEF Representative in Serbia. She will provide strategic leadership and vision to UNICEF Serbia, strengthening the organization’s collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Serbia and other partners to bring positive changes in the lives of children in Serbia.
"It is a privilege to begin this new chapter as UNICEF Representative in Serbia. Our focus will be on ensuring that every child has access to quality health, education and protection services, and that public policies and budgets reflect children's needs, particularly those of the most vulnerable," said Christina de Bruin, UNICEF Representative in Serbia. "This means working with the Government, development partners, civil society, the private sector, and other partners to strengthen national systems for early childhood development, education and child protection, to achieve lasting results for children and families and to close the equity gaps."
She brings more than 27 years of experience in international development, humanitarian action, child rights, and strategic partnerships. From 2021 to 2026, Ms. de Bruin served as UNICEF Representative in Bulgaria.
Before that, she was Deputy Director at the UNICEF Office for Relations with EU Institutions in Brussels, leading on innovative partnerships and resource mobilization and representing UNICEF with EU partners at political and policy levels.
Ms. de Bruin has also served as Deputy Representative with UNICEF in Côte d’Ivoire and held posts with UNICEF in Senegal, Sri Lanka and New York Headquarters. Before joining UNICEF, Ms. de Bruin worked at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a Policy Advisor on human rights, peacebuilding and humanitarian aid.
Ms. de Bruin is a national of the Netherlands. She is married and has two children. She holds a master’s degree in public policy and public administration from the University of Leiden, an Executive Education on Early Childhood from Harvard Kennedy School and a bachelor’s degree in European Human Rights Law/Political Science.
