About

In October 2025, high-level government representatives, regional institutions, technical experts, civil society and children gathered in Bucharest for the Regional Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children in Europe and Central Asia.

Convened by the Ministry of Labour, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity of Romania in partnership with UNICEF and the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General on Violence Against Children, the conference marked a key regional milestone in translating the global commitments made in Bogotá in 2024 into concrete, coordinated and measurable action.

A consistent message from political leaders, practitioners and children themselves was the urgent need to move faster from commitments to implementation. Children cannot wait while incremental progress leaves them exposed to continued harm in their homes, schools, communities and online spaces.
