Call for Papers Special Issue for the Journal of Educational and Psychological Studies (JEPS)

Background:

The Journal of Educational and Psychological Studies (JEPS) at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and UNICEF Oman, in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair in Educational Psychology at SQU, are pleased to announce a special edition associated with the (JEPS) in honor of the 35^th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).

We invite scholars, policymakers, and practitioners to submit papers on the theme of Child Rights and Well-being. This special edition aims to encourage researchers and educators to develop theoretical, empirical, and practical contributions on the multi-dimensional issue of the Rights of the Child. We welcome submissions that address all relevant aspects to facilitate a vibrant exchange of experiences and research findings.

Who can submit:

Researchers with a master's or PhD degree, regardless of nationality or location, are eligible to apply. Joint submissions are also accepted.

The proposed topics should focus on promoting children's rights and well-being in the Sultanate of Oman. Some suggested topics include:

• Child-Friendly Education Services: An Inclusive Approach.
• The Importance of Educational Psychology in Supporting Children's Mental Health.
• Maintaining Children's Mental Health in the Justice System.
• The Impact of Malnutrition on Children's Growth.
• The Role of the New Universal Children's Benefit in Enhancing Children's Well-being.
• Climate Change and Its Effects on Children's Access to Services (education, health, etc.).
• Emerging Positive Parenting Practices.
• Strengthening Evidence-based Data for children.
• Art and children’s rights and well-being.
• Interdisciplinarity and children’s rights.
• Children's Rights and Well-Being in Physical Education.
• Social media and its influence of children’s well-being.
• Other relevant topics related to children's rights and well-being are also welcome, especially those within education and psychology.

Additionally, we welcome the research papers that have been developed but not yet published in any journal, conference, or other publication.

Accepted papers cannot be changed after the submission deadline except for finalizing the research outputs.

Language:

Papers can be submitted in Arabic or English.

Abstract and paper requirements and timeframes:

Researchers interested in submitting abstracts, please share the following and adhere to the below requirements:

1. Abstracts:

Abstracts should be maximum of 1500 words, presenting in a MS Word File: compatible fonts (Calibri), font size: 12, spacing: 1.5.

• CV.
• Abstract outline:
  • Full name(s) of author(s).
  • Affiliation details: position of author(s), department/faculty, institution, city, country.
  • Contact information of the author(s): valid phone number and email.
  • Paper title.
  • 3-4 Keywords.
  • Summary.
  • Research Question.
  • Methodology.
  • Preliminary outline.
  • Reference list

The deadline for submission of abstracts is 7 November 2024, 23:00 (Oman time).

The Scientific Committee will notify the selected researchers of the decision no later than 7 December 2024.

1. Papers:

Papers should be maximum of 8000 words, presenting in a MS World File: compatible fonts (Calibri), font size: 12, spacing: 1.5.

All graphs and tables included in the text must have titles and must be numbered sequentially. The researchers should adhere to the American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines in writing the manuscripts.

It is anticipated that the Journal will be published in July 2025.

Important notes:

• The research must be original and not plagiarized from other sources or previously published or under review elsewhere.
• Researchers must adhere to the ethical standards of scientific publishing, and papers may be subject to plagiarism and ethical checks during the submission process if deemed necessary. All intellectually property of individuals and institutions must be respected.
• Each submitted article will undergo a peer review, and it may be accepted as is, returned to the author for revisions based on feedback from the evaluators, or declined for this particular publication
• Articles that do not meet the journal's guidelines in terms of format and content will be rejected.
