UNICEF concludes nutrition surveillance workshop in collaboration with the Ministry of Health

Muscat, 9 October 2023 – UNICEF in partnership with the Ministry of Health, launched a new nutrition surveillance system to monitor and evaluate nutrition data which will support a better understanding of the nutrition situation of children and women in the Sultanate of Oman.

The new dashboard will aid health and nutrition practitioners to monitor and evaluate data related to nutrition in real-time. The Ministry of Health will utilise this new state of the art measure to plan and scale-up results-driven programmatic interventions which result in better nutritious outcome for the children in the Sultanate of Oman.

UNICEF contributed to supporting the Ministry of Health to strengthen the nutrition related admin data system in tailoring better results that can be accessible and user-friendly for health practitioners. This achievement will translate nutrition data into actionable outcomes which will feed into evidence-based practices.    

"The Nutrition Surveillance Dashboard is a cutting-edge platform that represents a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to improving the well-being of children and communities through data-driven approaches. It is the first of its kind, providing real-time insights into the nutritional status of populations, enabling early detection of trends, and facilitating evidence-based decision-making." The new dashboard will support nutrition experts to have timely access to nutrition data to speed up nutritious solutions for children and women in need” Said: Liibaan Hussain Dhahir, UNICEF Oman social policy manager and head of UNICEF Oman programme.
