The Government is UNICEF’s main partner in Oman. Work priorities are set out in the multi-annual Country Programme Document (CPD). UNICEF Oman’s current CPD runs from  2022 to 2025. 

Traditionally, UNICEF has worked very closely with the ministries of social development, health and education. More recently, following the restructuring of the Omani Government in August 2020, UNICEF has expanded the number of Government partners forging relations with the Ministry of Finance and the new Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.

US at youth discussion
His Excellency Basil bin Ahmed Al Rawas, Undersecretary for Sports and Youth at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, participates in a discussion with young people in Oman about the issues most affecting them. The discussion was organised with UNICEF support.     

Throughout the COVID-19 outbreak and response, UNICEF has also worked in close cooperation with the Supreme Committee for COVID-19. In June 2020, UNICEF and the Government-owned Oman Technology Fund organised a Youth Technology Challenge to identify innovative and scalable ideas to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on access to education, training and decent jobs. 

Programme Management Group 

The Programme Management Group (PMG) is the main platform for inter-sectoral planning, coordination and monitoring of the Country Programme. Comprised of senior representatives from the ministries of education, health, social development, and the National Centre for Statistics and Information was formalized in August 2016 by ministerial decree.
