In February 2021, President Pendarovski and UNICEF launched a new initiative ‘Reimagine the Future’ to give children and young people the space to engage in defining the vision they want for their future and future generations.
In the first phase of the youth consultations, young people aged 12 – 19 years old were invited to take part in an online survey and share their views about the changes they would like to see, their motivations, and their biggest concerns. The survey was also an opportunity to send a message to the decision-makers, and to share their vision for the country 10 years from now. A total of 527 young people took part.
„Young people should have access to better quality education and employment opportunities based on knowledge and competencies.” - Female, 16
The main purpose was to identify the most important topics for young people and to inform the next steps of the youth consultations process, ensuring that the workshops reflect their needs and concerns. Based on the inputs from young people themselves, the workshops will focus on 3 key areas: quality education, quality of life and environment and urban planning.
„I imagine our country as an eco-state with electric vehicles, modern schools, sports fields and carefree inhabitants” - Male, 13
In the second phase of the youth consultations, we invite children and young people to participate in the thematic workshops, so we can together discuss the main topics identified in the survey, the changes they would like to see and propose possible solutions. The main findings and ideas from the workshops will be presented at a final high-level event.
Young people interested to take part in the workshops are invited to fill out the application form on the following link, to share their motivation for participation, to prepare themselves to talk about the challenges and to share their ideas and visions for the future.
